Fit Guide

Finding the right bra size for you can be a confusing business.  Did you know that 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra?! After surgery, you may experience swelling around your scar, on your chest and even under your arms. You need to give yourself time to heal and for the swelling to reduce to really know what bra size you need.

The easiest way to find out your correct bra size is by doing some simple maths and taking some quick measurements with a tape measure.

We are going to talk you through how to do this, step by step so you can make sure you find the correct bra size for you and so you know the ELAN bra you are ordering will fit beautifully.

Find a relaxing space for you to take your measurements. You need to make sure you are able to take your time to ensure you do this correctly so somewhere you feel comfortable is really important.

Pass the measuring tape around your back so that when your hands meet in front of you the tape Is straight and sitting snugly against your rib cage and just under your breasts. It is really important to ensure the tape is straight and not slipping down your back.

Now you need to measure your overbust. In exactly the same way, you need to pass the tape under your arms, ensuring it comes across the fullest part of your bust when you bring the tape together again at the front of your body. Make sure this is snug against your skin but not too tight. If you wear a breast form take the measurement from your natural breast. Make a note of this measurement.

Wear a non-padded bra or nothing if you feel comfortable doing so.

Pull as tight as you feel is comfortable under your bust and note down your measurement.

 Now for the maths!

Subtract your underbust measurement from your overbust measurement. The difference between the 2 numbers will determine your cup size. See below the calculations for each cup size.

-1 inch difference = AA

0 difference = A

1 inch difference = B

2 inch difference = C

3 inch difference = D

4 inch difference = DD

5 inch difference = E

6 inch difference = F

So, as an example if you measured 34” underbust and 38” overbust then you would subtract 34 from 38 which leaves you with 4. That would be a DD. So your bra size would be 34DD.
